7TH GRADE SELECT GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM

WE HAVE TWO (2) SPOTS AVAILABLE!
Formed in April of this year by a former professional sports agent, and current college basketball exposure event promoter, the RIFFS are an elite 7th grade girls select basketball team currently composed of six (6) skilled players from the Cypress, Katy and North/NorthwestHouston areas. We are a true travel team; and, hence, the team will travel to other Texas cities and out-of-state to participate in prestigious tournaments, in addition to predominantly playing in local tournaments to prepare for our scheduled out-of-state events.
To date, the team has played in only two (2) tournaments. In their first ever tournament on April 24, 2010, the RIFFS exploded onto the Houston select girls scene exhibiting its eye-popping transition game and defense, which included holding the eventual champions (a team that has been in existence for more than two (2) years) to just 16 points in the first half. In just our second tournament on May 1, 2010, the RIFFS again impressed by placing second overall in the Diva's tournament in Alvin, Texas.
The RIFFS are a very special and unique organization composed of special, talented, dedicated and hardworking young ladies and
parents, all of whom consider themselves family!
The RIFFS are looking to add two (2) more gifted and skilled players -- (1) a skilled post player at least standing a legitimate 5' - 8", and (2) a pure, athletic scrorer standing at least a legitimate 5' - 5" -- to bring our total team roster to eight (8) girls. Please note we keep our team roster number relatively low because we only take very skilled, hardworking and committed young ladies that we believe we can actually put on the court and play! We practice hard and are very demaning. And we reward that demanding, hard work in the tournaments by actually giving all of our players substantial playing time. So, if we do NOT feel a young lady will get on the floor for substantial playing time, she simply will not "make" our team. End of story.
However, the selected young ladies will become valued, significant components of our recognized team and enjoy the benefits associated with that privilege, which include the following:
1. Low monthly cost. Upon team formation, supporters of the RIFFS' vision donated monies to pay for brand new uniforms and cover our initial five (5) tournaments. Consequently, girls that "make" our team will not have to pay a substantialfee. Instead, girls that make the team must merely pay a one-time $250.00 administrative fee. Thereafter those parents will merely pay their pro rata share of the RIFFS' recurring expenses, which includes gym rental and tournament entry fees, etc.). For the remainder of the season (e.g. the months of June, July and August), this amount will total about $150.00 per month. That's it! However, the RIFFS are even attempting to lower that meager amount. Please see #2 below.
2. Celebrity Lock-in and Fundraiser. A lock-in for 6th - 8th grade girls is being planned to raise money that will be used to further lessen the already economical costs associated with being part of the RIFFS' family. This lock-in will feature a performance by BRIAN "ANGEL" ANDREWS, a member of P-DIDDY'S BAD BOY RECORDS recording artists DAY 26!
3. Travel and Development. Finally, selected girls will experience both mental and physical growth, because the girls will be taught solid basketball skills, as well as the mental and tactical parts of the game, to improve their overall game. With this overall preparedness, the team will then travel to very prestigious tournaments in very notable and historic venues where they will experience new cultures and witness first-hand other lifestyles. In this regard, the girls will mature and gain real-world experience.
